Policy Priorities
The Home Visiting Coalition works on a broad array of federal policies and programs to maintain and expand bipartisan support for home visiting across the U.S. Through decades of investment in evidence-based home visiting, policymakers have made a significant impact on the health and well-being of children and families.
The Home Visiting Coalition continues to lead federal advocacy efforts to support the continued and expanded work of the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program. In addition, growing investments for home visiting are also available through emerging sources, including the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) and Medicaid.

MIECHV
The Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program has provided states and Tribal entities with funding for developing and implementing evidence-based home visiting programs since 2010. The Home Visiting Coalition has worked closely with Congress since the inception of the MIECHV program, and it is currently authorized and funded through September 30, 2027.

Medicaid
Medicaid is being utilized by a number of states to fund home visiting services in order to serve more families and support better maternal, infant, and child health outcomes. The Home Visiting Coalition is working to streamline and enhance the accessibility of Medicaid funds to support home visiting.

FFPSA
The Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA), passed in 2018, reformed child welfare laws to allow states to use existing funds to pay for evidence-based services and programs, including home visiting, to safely prevent children entering foster care. The Home Visiting Coalition advocates with Congress and the Administration to improve access to FFPSA funds for home visiting.
